Ghost in the Shell's viral campaign has severely backfired
With Ghost in the Shell reaching cinemas 31 March, Paramount Pictures are attempting to get their viral advertising campaign off the ground. "I am hunted. I am the hunter. I am coming for them. I am Major," says Scarlett Johansson in a newly released video.

I've looked forward to this movie for years, and I still want to see it (because I love the source material), but I doubt I'll see it in theatres, as I think that sends the studios the wrong message. Personally, I would have loved to have seen Rinko Kikuchi in the role, or any number of other Asian actors.
Don't get me wrong, I love Scarlett Johansson in other roles, and I don't blame her entirely for this decision (it is her career), but, again, I would have liked a different actress in the movie.
You still want to see it? You aren't afraid it will ruin the franchise for you?
I'm a big fan of the original manga and anime movie. I don't have any faith that Hollywood will get it right.
If you're a fan of the source material, a shit movie shouldn't ruin the originals
Well, not ruin the original. I meant more like failing to capture the point of the original in the adaptation, and thus falling flat.
I agree with you. It's going to be a terrible movie. They will get the characters and theme wrong.
But I want to see it anyway just because it will look nice. The props, sets, and cinematography seem fantastic.
