When do you think we'll see a Star Wars Episode VIII teaser?
Cantina Talk: We Have to Be Close to a Star Wars: Episode VIII Teaser at This Point
In case you're feeling your enthusiasm for all things Star Wars flagging, here's something to make you feel a little more upbeat: We're only a little more than two months away from Rogue One reaching theaters-and anyone who doesn't think that means we're closer to a Star Wars: Episode VIII teaser should think again.

My money is on the teaser accompanying the opening of Rogue One, rather than debuting before Rogue One opens and potentially confusing some more casual fans.

First, I will still insist that it is in fact episode 4. And I will be avoiding all trailers, teasers, rumors and news. I like to enter the theater with the open and expectant mind of a child.
I agree with your insight. Previews in the theaters along with R1 would be superb timing... and I suppose I'll watch those. :)
Wait... What? I'm confused.
I'm a second trilogy denier. It goes Star Wars, Empire, Return of the Jedi, The Force Awakens. I am typically more accepting of things as they are, but Jar-Jar freaked my shit.
Then it'd be episode V.
But considering Empire was ALWAYS episode V and Jedi was ALWAYS episode VI, long before the prequels were even planned, you can still call TFA episode VII and deny the prequels.
I got confused just reading about all those Star Wars possibilities...
International markets are such a Disney (and other film) goldmine that I could see it debuting in China with Doctor Strange. Interesting to speculate!
Star Wars doesn't have as strong of a pull in China as the Marvel stuff, as the Original Trilogy didn't see a theatrical release there, due to the ban on imported media.
I think debuting the next Star Wars movie's first trailer in a country that doesn't really have any special feelings for the franchise would be a huge mistake.
Ah yes, the Marvel stuff definitely trumps Star Wars doesn't it?
I have to agree that debuting it there would be a mistake. If it's going to be paired with Doctor Strange overseas, it will undoubtedly make it to the official website first.
If they debut it worldwide on the official website at the same time that it debuts with Doctor Strange in China, they're fine.
If they pair it with Doctor Strange debuts locally, they're making a big mistake. The US is their bread and butter for Star Wars. Don't bite the hand that feeds you.
I don't think we'll see it until after Rogue One has left theatres. There's a lot of risk of confusion, and Disney are playing the Star Wars promotional material pretty close to their chest in general, so I think we'll be waiting a while yet.
