About Me

I guess I should introduce myself in some way here - it's what you do when you have a new blog, right?

Okay.

I'm Alexander and I'm 33 years old. And I guess I'm what some people call a geek.

I don't mind being called a geek - I do like geeky stuff such as video games, writing fan fiction, reading, watching my favorite shows on DVD/Blu Ray and so on. I also read newspapers every day and am very interested in politics. I spent almost ten years studying at various universities (subjects included English linguistics/literature, philosophy, history, law and political science) before I finally realized that perhaps working would be a better idea. These days I work as a research/documentation assistant in a library.

So much for real life.

My fannish life mostly revolves around two men - Sir Patrick Stewart and Jean-Luc Picard. I run various social media news communities/pages about Sir Patrick, which tends to keep me very busy since it's basically a 24/7 job on top of my normal job, it often involves getting up in the middle of the night to post the latest news or pictures. I'm a walking encyclopedia when it comes to Sir Patrick's career, and I have nothing but the utmost respect for him. (And maybe a small crush on him, but that's all.)

With Jean-Luc, things are a lot more on the emotional side - I have been in love with him for over 13 years now, and I'm way beyond hiding this little fact, as embarrassing as it might sound. He's the man I love, and that's it for me. When it comes to TNG, I'm an avid fan fiction writer and huge lover of the show and its captain in particular - I know Jean-Luc's lines by heart and the man himself inside and out. I'm also a collector of all things that have to do with Jean-Luc in general - action figures, posters, keychains, all kinds of clothing... really, anything that involves him somehow gets my attention. Still, I wouldn't call myself a die hard Star Trek fan, my interest is extremely focused on mostly TNG although I do enjoy some TOS and ENT as well from time to time. I always say that the love Trekkies are able to have for all of Star Trek is the love I have for just TNG.

I also like some other fannish things. For example, I'm a huge fan of the cartoon series We Bare Bears (Ice Bear is so relatable!), and I like series like X Files, Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead and also, my second favorite series of all time, the original Dallas series. (What can I say, I'm a child of the 80s. It shows, so much. I generally love 80s television.)

Anyways. That's it for now I guess. I'm not good at this whole "introduce yourself" thing, but I hope I could provide at least SOME insight as to who I am.
