If you've never heard of The Avalanches, definitely try that out.
I really like writing to Tool's last two albums. In general, anything that's a sense obliterating wall of sound helps me to disengage from the world. The Tool albums provide that, and the last two albums are about some pretty heady religious stuff, which helps put me in a slightly altered mind space as well.
Debussy - Arabesque No.1 and No.2 is some good classical music that has energy but isn't harsh or attention stealing in my opinion.

This is a great mix of Grateful Dead covers by current bands. Good background music.
