Prompt 14: On Gratitude
So this prompt is a little late for Thanksgiving. However, isn't it great to presence gratitude in December, when the media often focuses on the commercial aspects from Black Friday and Cyber Monday toward a season of giving?
So let's pay it forward. How do you express gratitude?
In what ways do you thank yourself on a daily basis? Any concrete actions? Brush your teeth, style your hair, freshen and beautify your appearance? Any adornments that remind you of how special you are, what a wonderful gift you are to the world?
In what ways do you thank those in your life, in your space, in your home, in your heart? How do you express thanks to them? Is it through words, through touch, through actions such as making his/her coffee exactly how you know she/he appreciates it? Is there a special object in the living room, in the bedroom, in a secret album? Is it through a special time/place that you set aside for action, adventure, vacation?
In what ways do you thank nature, shelter, clothes, travel, food and water? Perhaps you are thankful for entertainment, the creativity of actors/singers/performers.
Perhaps you are ever more aware of how much you have to be thankful for when you see those around you who lack. Perhaps you are thankful that you have enough to give to others through toy drives, food drives, etc. Perhaps seeing the smile on another person's face, especially when you had something to do with it, is the reward in itself.
Tell us about these ways, these times, the incidences that have led you to feel thankful and post your poem on this thread!
P.S. Please remember to tag your poem as Prompt 14. For a complete list of prompts, go to the view-only sheet here and click on the appropriate link to participate in a particular prompt.
