'Stranger Things,' TV's Summer Hit, to Return in 2017

Netflix's hit series "Stranger Things" is coming back for a second season. The streaming service announced Wednesday morning that its breakout show will return for nine episodes next year, one more episode than in its widely praised first season, which debuted in July.

New here as of today. Just wanted to say that "Stranger Things" was awesome and hearing there will be a 2nd Season is fantastic news. I watched the entire 1st season over two days and was not disappointed. Thank the Powers that Be for Netflix. If not for them I might simply die of boredom. Network television just doesn't cut it any longer.

Welcome! Stranger things made me so happy 😄

Thank you for the welcome. I have to agree with the happiness factor. It captured the 80's perfectly (I should know LOL) and the level of suspense kept me watching. It had the feel of old school Sci-Fi/Horror that Hollywood is lacking these days, not to mention the creativity.

Definitely, looking forward to S2. :-)

I'm scared for S2. How could they ever live up to S1?

      • Jesse_FoxAug 31, 2016 at 7:45 PM

True. There is always that fear. I would hate to think they'd drop the ball this early, but it wouldn't be the first time. I just try to keep a positive and open-minded attitude until I've been proven wrong. If I didn't I'd drive myself crazy. :-)

Hooray! I just finished the series a few HOURS ago, and last I had heard, there wasn't a solid season 2 in the works yet. This makes me happy!

Eleven better be back and get as many Eggos as she wants, that's all I'm gonna say.

    • DanAug 31, 2016 at 5:36 PM

      so many eggos!

I was so excited to see the teaser trailer for this, AND that they're keeping many of the same characters. Can I hope for more Lucas? :D

I felt this show was just "o.k." Does that make me a bad person?

However, I am glad there is a season 2.

    • Jesse_FoxAug 31, 2016 at 10:49 AM

Absolutely not! Everyone has their own particular tastes. I think it resonated with me personally because I am a child of the 80's (yeah I'm an old fart LOL).

I won't say it was perfect, but it worked for me. Perfection is a myth in my opinion. ;-)

I'd say I'm the target demo for this as well being in my early 40s. It felt like a lot of things from that time but it didn't feel as good as the things it was invoking. I think that is my argument against the show.

Again, though I enjoyed it and watched it all. I just feel in the minority as I wasn't blown away.

      • Jesse_FoxAug 31, 2016 at 11:08 AM

I believe I see where you're coming from. I'm sneaking up on 49 and there is something I've noticed as I've gotten older. Things invoked through movies and series often cannot compete with our memories of when they were new and fresh. It just seems the way of it.

        Hope that made sense. :-)

    Wooohooo! Hopefully it's SOON in 2017. :)
