Man's front door bricked up as he sleeps - BBC News

A man in central Germany tried to leave his house by the front door only to find a brick wall there. Unidentified perpetrators in Mainhausen near Offenbach had bricked it up during the night, police told local media.

All thoughts of vandalism and mischief aside, I was really keen for an actual picture of the wall (rather than stock imagery), because I was curious about the quality of this speedy and stealthy workmanship. There are plenty who'd pay good money for a quick, quiet job!

I would, I have some repairs around the house that needs to be done but I dont have the tools to do it. If they can put up a wall that fast wonder if they can build anything else that fast and if its good quality.

No, the ones in the back, Fortunato

That is pretty funny and nothing too damaging. The article says damages where only around €500.

It is pretty funny, but £500 in damage isn't. If the bricking job was well done, then having the perpetrators fix it would seem a reasonable recompense. Along with them paying for a few beers. However since catching them isn't going to happen any time soon, a good kicking when they are caught and then having to pay for it seems fair.

I wonder how they got the damage amount, did that include the cost of the police tearing down the wall? I do agree with you the punishment shouldnt be too bad since its not that bad compared to most vandalism damage.

Well I assume they bricked it up long enough for the cement to set, so it probably damaged something bringing it down. If it really didn't cost him anything though, probably doesn't matter. If they bricked up his back door too, or if his front door was his only exit, it could've cost him wages because he couldn't get to work? Plus the risk if there had been a fire. I'm guessing he had a back exit though

I'm trying to think of how I would feel if this happened to me. I think I would alternate very quickly between rage and laughter but would ultimately end up at rage.
