Hamas 'to drop call for Israel's destruction'

Palestinian militant group Hamas' leadership will drop its call for Israel's destruction and distance itself from the Muslim Brotherhood, in an apparent attempt to rebrand the organisation as more moderate.

The revised political document will still reject Israel's right to exist and back "armed struggle" against it, the Gulf Arab sources told the Reuters news agency.

    Huh?

I guess they're ending their policy of outright war with Israel in favour of having a Palestinian state internationally recognized alongside Israel; instead they will not recognize Israel's existence (as opposed to actively seeking their annihilation) and will instead fight a proxy war by supporting any faction that seeks Israel's destruction.

So they're trying to have it both ways, basically. Something tells me the Israeli government isn't going to accept this "compromise".

Israel has already commented on it, saying they're not fooled and don't expect the rest of the world to buy it either.
