According to CBC, there are more than 100 people hurt.
    Edit: All of them minor.

Yeah as far as I've heard, no one has been killed, which is really good to hear.

Yes, train wrecks are so horrific. It's nice that the reported injuries aren't too severe this time.

I'm noticing that facebook has a safety check-in for this, which is interesting. I knew they had expanded their "check-in after a disaster" thing, but didn't expect it for this situation. Is really an interesting feature.

I think that's one of the better uses of their platform. I'm surprised Google hasn't implemented something similar.

Yeah I know they got a lot of backlash for the limitations of it fairly early on, is cool to watch it develop. Agree that it is a pretty cool usage of the platform.

I noticed that for this incident that some of my friends checked in. It's comforting that no one I know got hurt, especially I used to take this specific train route.

My husband's coworker were on the NJ Transit Hoboken crash. He written an article about his experience, I think wapo? I just wonder if it's fatigue / sleep issue with the train conductors like the NJ Transit and Metro North incidents. If so, that's an issue that needs to be addressed with the NYC commuter lines.
