Monopoly Will Let the Internet Vote to Replace All of the Board Game's Classic Tokens
Since 1933 when the board game first appeared, Monopoly's tokens have changed and evolved over the years to reflect the times. In 2013 Hasbro even let fans vote to replace the iconic iron token with a cat, and starting today, the internet now has the chance to choose what replaces every last token for an upcoming version of the game.

The way you vote for which ones you want to replace the original eight takes the form of a terrible point-and-click browser game which takes several minutes to load. As difficult as it was, I voted for the dinosaur (which should be spelled 'T. rex', not 'T-rex'), the tortoise, the roller skate, the airplane, the sports car, the penguin, the bathtub, and the cowboy hat.
Penguin! Dinosaur!
What could possibly go wrong. Its not like people on the internet have corrupted a chatbot or gave a boat a dumb name, sent Pitbull to Alaska, sent Taylor Swift to a deaf school to perform, tried to name Mountain Dew's new drink "Hitler did nothing wrong" or Rick Rolled the Mets stadium. Oh wait.
Throwback Tuesday to that time 4chan voted to make North Korea and Iran stops for an international Justin Bieber tour.
Or when they tried to name a dump in Austin after Fred Durst. There are so many times an online poll has gone horribly wrong after reddit and 4chan got involved.
Actually, it looks like they're being sensible about this - people can only choose from a pre-chosen pool of possible tokens (as opposed to making whatever the hell suggestions they like). No penises allowed =P
You have more faith in the internet voters then I do. Even with predefined choices somehow the poll will be screwed up and trolls will pick some stupid pieces like the emojis or get a write in vote somehow.
There's nothing horrible about sending Pitbull to Alaska. What's horrible is that they let him come back :(
Wait. Didn't we already do this in 2000 in the Millennium Edition? The pieces were: cell phone, computer monitor, jet, bicycle, roller skates, etc. Why are we doing this again? Sales must be down.
