Scenes From the Terrifying, Already Forgotten JFK Airport Shooting That Wasn't
When the first stampede began, my plane had just landed. It started, apparently, with a group of passengers awaiting departure in John F. Kennedy Airport Terminal 8 cheering Usain Bolt's superhuman 100-meter dash. The applause sounded like gunfire, somehow, or to someone; really, it only takes one.

I saw this on twitter
this morning, yesterday, and it chilled me to the core.eta: The individual I retweeted it from added that: "We're so accustomed to terror now that we can terrorize ourselves."
It's all well and good to have security and law enforcement and all that, but it depends so much on those individuals' ability to control their own terror and keep a cool head... and what airport is going to invest the kind of time and money needed to train security guards for this kind of chaos? It doesn't happen often enough to justify the expense, I imagine, at least from a purely economic standpoint... and yet this kind of incident is just unreal and shouldn't be happening. Our ability to spook ourselves is just... I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around it.
Basically, good read, thanks for posting it. It's given me a lot to think about.
I think the airport and it's staff should get their act together. If there was a bit more coordination and effort on their part this situation could have been diffused
I totally agree, I just don't know if they'll be willing to spend the money to make it happen. Hopefully this was a wake-up call!
That's disturbing 😥
