For the first time, a game in the Zelda line will have DLC, featuring new dungeons and story.

Hyrule Warriors had DLC and that was in the Zelda line... =).

I don't see a big issue with this personally. Yeah, for the most part the DLC gaming culture has been kept out of Nintendo products. But even that bubble was burst last year with Smash Brothers, Splatoon, and Mario Kart getting DLC for the Wii U. It's the new business model and a way for developers to get more content into their game and a bit more longevity out of it.

I'm ok with DLC as long as it's not stuff that should be part of the original game. What they have planned here for the Breath of the Wild DLC I think will work well. I'm not too worried about Nintendo being a "nickel and dime" DLC kind of company. Now if they start to put out just Link costumes for money or something like that I'll be a bit more leery.

Yeah, I'm quite happy that this isn't Day 1 DLC, which usually means it's something that should have been included in the game. These look like genuine add-ons that folks won't miss if they don't buy the DLC, but there's still enough meat there to be desirable.

Not sure what I think of this. To be fair, they do all seem like extras, rather than main parts of the game that are simply not included.

Yeah. I think it bothers me a bit, but logically it shouldn't. Other companies have been doing it for years, but not Nintendo. At least not with their big titles.

But we can't blame them for being more modern.

The ultimate question: is the DLC trend good or bad for gamers? I'm not convinced it's good, but I have very little experience with it. To be fair, I think it makes sense in things like Mario Kart.

Mario Kart 8 had very few DLC tracks. I'd just as soon buy a second disc with more tracks on it. I always thought it was weird they didn't come up with Mario Kart early each generation, and then another one that was the same game with double the tracks. I'd have bought it.

For that, I guess it makes sense. But for a game with story? Seems weird.

Except they're promising more story... So as long as they deliver that, I'm ok!
