A Community for discussion on all things Nintendo Switch
Let's All Use One Nintendo Channel... Not a dozen!
Goal: To have a thriving Nintendo community on Imzy.
Status: many mostly empty communities.
I think we should all unite in one group by encourage others to join /Nintendo. Currently there are at least a dozen Nintendo-based channels, nearly all of which do not get used. This /NintendoSwitch community is among the biggest and most active. But it seems strange to post non-Switch stuff here. (I do because it's the active one.)
I suggest we only use the /Nintendo community. Unless one day it grows to need a spin off. For example, maybe the 3DS channel is big enough to support itself. This would be a great problem to have. And we don't have it, so let's move on:
Is there any reason not to use the /Nintendo for all Nintendo related discussion? I cannot think of one, except that we here (/NintendoSwitch) are larger than /Nintendo for some reason. But I believe that which ever community is the most active is the one that will that will attract active commenters.
I suggest this:
- We all start posting at /Nintendo instead of here.
- Someone makes a post explaining we shouldn't post here currently.
- We encourage people in related Nintendo communities to post the same comment.
The result would be many communities saying, 'hey, we are all posting at /Nintendo when anyone looks at them. This will drive people there. If there is any discussion to be had, it will happen there.
I think this is the best chance at making a thriving community. Does that makes sense? Should we all go join /Nintendo and start posting there instead? I cannot see any downside, since every group will be directed there. New users and old alike.
Here are Nintendo related communities I am away of, sorted by how active they are:
Active
- /NintendoSwitch
- /3DS active only because of our very own RedAntisocial
- /Fire_Emblem 1 in Feb, 5 in January
Barely Active
- /LegendOfZelda 2 posts in Jan 1 in Feb
Inactive
- /Nintendo (only because of RedAntisocial and I)
- /WiiU Several in Novemeber, then nothing.
- /Animal_Crossing Last post in Nov, then June
- /Mario Two posts in oct, 3 in
- /ACMainStreet No Animal Crossing posts yet
If you know of more comment and I will add them.
I think we should at least target those inactive ones. Zelda may become a hive of activity. But I still think we should all organize in to one, if possible. The 3DS community may be fine on it's own (I never looked at it before today). But FE and LoZ seem small enough I don't know if there is any reason not to encourage them to post with us.
If I have stepped on toes or if anyone is offended I apologise. I just want to have the most vibrant community we can offer. Thoughts?
I just want somewhere I can make posts and interested people can see them. I feel we are possibly too spread out and conversations happening in too many places. I think the 'active' communities should also be encouraged to join us.
