Quebec, Canada. It's a good place to be a non-binary person :-)
Vienna, Austria. It's ok I guess… I don't have a big desire to move, but I don't love it either. It has more nb & trans meetings than many other places, so that's cool and definitely a reason not to move to a smaller town for me :)
Belatedly: Perth, Australia. It's mostly ok but I'm not liking the census we're supposed to do tonight, where if you want to be anything but male or female the official advice is to request a paper form and draw your own box.
I'm from Brazil too. I don't hate it in here, even though our country has many issues. I believe every country has it's issues. I've lived in the US for six months a couple years ago, and I'll be living in Lisbon for another six starting this Septemebr.
I grew up in Albuquerque NM but I live in Seattle WA. And I hope to stay here - it's the only city I've lived where I feel comfortable expressing myself as myself.
I'm in Germany, and it's okay. I didn't have any problems with being non-binary, although I am easily mistaken as a CIS female (as dressing in men's clothes does not say anything about gender here), so... I'm privileged, I'd say. Therefore, it's hard for me to tell how well people are behaving here, regarding non-binary gender topics.
I'm from Texas, but also want to GTFO ASAP lol
I'm from Brazil too! I don't like it here, but it's not like the rest of the world is better off.
OP and @Eloony: What pronouns do you use in Portuguese, and where do you live? I'm currently living in São Paulo, and my pronouns are eld & elx :)
I don't use pronouns, I use workarounds... Never really looked into neutral/nb pronouns in Portuguese...
(Also if you don't mind me ranting I hate that Dilma added "presidenta" and fucked up gender for that. "Presidente" was gender neutral, why fuck us too? Wasn't fucking the economy and stuff enough? >.>)
I don't really care about pronouns usually... I would rather have an easy neutral pronoun but since it's not an option I'll roll with whatever. I understand why Dilma changed it to presidenta, even if I'm bugged about making neutral words gendered.
I live in Salvador, though, and interact mostly with an extremely conservative community so I can't be out around here.
http://orientando.org/elx-1/ pages 8/9! Page 4 also has some tips.
While I'm always disappointed with the lack of gender neutrality in Portuguese, I'm more bothered by the implications of most people's complains about "presidenta". I mean, "you are making up new words to fit your gender/to not erase your gender" is a common complaint against nonbinary people, and I don't doubt most people criticizing Dilma's use of presidenta would also criticize the need to not call people men/women without permission, the need for neopronouns, the need for new nonbinary identities, the need for words such as enbyfriend, and so on.
i live near portland oregon! i love it :)
Kansas. Anything out of the "ordinary" is a give or take here. Certain areas people won't blink and others harassment isnt blinked at. But I mean I have trans friends near me and no one bothers them. Being nonbinary and having long hair I'm just assumed as a tomboy or lesbian when I'm having masculine days so I don't personally get ridiculed much.
