For true stories that are so mind-blowingly ridiculous, that you could have sworn it was an Onion story.

Irish police drop Stephen Fry blasphemy investigation due to 'lack of outraged people'
The Irish police investigation into Stephen Fry over alleged blasphemous comments has been dropped after detectives decided there were not enough people who had been outraged by the remarks. Police launched an investigation into the presenter and comedian after he described God as "capricious", "mean-minded" and "stupid" during an appearance on Irish television show "The Meaning of Life" in February 2015.

What's the benchmark? Guys gotta have goals after all. :)
Deliberately vague to the point of unenforceable. The Irish constitution requires blasphemy to be prohibited by law, but that's not really fitting with a secular liberal democracy. To avoid going through a constitutional referendum, the Irish parliament passed the Defamation Act of 2009 which made it still technically illegal but virtually impossible to prosecute.
Irish law really sucks - liberal democracy my ass.
I'm sure Fry was very disappointed that no one was particularly offended.
Well indeed, also it took a rather long time for them to notice?
It just took a while for Garda to get around to an investigation. They had more important things to do, probably.
Stephen Fry's goal is to outrage. But he's so darned lovable doing it...
down with that sort of thing!
