My jazzmaster

My jazzmaster

This is my squier vintage modified jazzmaster, the only mod on it is the neck is shimmed with a 1 degree shim from stwemac. Here is the link to the shim

Do you use the switches much? Why the neck shim? Do you have trouble keeping it in tune? I have a dirt cheap Squire Jazzmaster (w/o trem) and struggle with tuning on it more than any other guitar I own.

No issues keeping it in tune once I got it setup, the neck shim lets me raise the bridge and increase the break angle over the bridge. With heavier string (GHS boomer 12-52) and the increased break angle the strings dont move even if I shove a drum stick between the neck and neck pickup.

        12s! That's hardcore.

When I got it I watched Nels Cline's rig rundown and he said he uses GHS 12-52 strings so that is what I bought for mine. The good thing is the thicker strings and increased break angle do prevent the strings from slipping out of the slot and it keeps the guitar in tune no matter what you do to it.
