Anonymous on imzy
An interesting thing I've noticed as I browse the posts on imzy is how many people choose to 💛 things anonymously. I'm curious about why people choose to be anon, instead of let's say, creating a non-descript profile that doesn't have any personal information attached to it. Would love to hear everyone's thoughts - even anonymous ones!

Do you mean the "x participating" avatar list?
When you see folks appearing in that list anonymously, that is generally because they either haven't picked a profile avatar yet, or they haven't commented/posted in the community yet, which means they don't yet have an identity tied into that space.
Ahh cool. it's so interesting figuring out how imzy is set up!
One thing that has been interesting to me about that line of avatars is that, as a staff member at least, it sometimes makes me think twice about voting on stuff. Like, do I come across as endorsing a specific opinion expressed in like 521 of a linked article? Idunno!
I'm not sure if this is something normal users would feel/be concerned about though. Probably not.
Ninjaedit: also, have you come across /anonymous_asks community yet? I think that idea is really interesting and will be cool to see what happens over there.
I joined that community and commented just today actually! I'm totally curious about how people will use it too.
I guess the whole endorsement thing is a thing I've noticed in other spaces, eg on Twitter, where a lot of people who are public figures or obviously affiliated with an organisation, include a disclaimer to say that retweets are not endorsements.
The separation (if needed) of professional and personal can be a tricky juggling act.
Not that I think you need to worry about that too much here - I for one am just feeling pretty stoked to be interacting with so many people in such a nice space :)
whee, yay!
And yeah I'm kinda enjoying the ability to interact like a regular-ish user for the time being. I know that as we grow, that probably won't be the case. Which is a tough balance because I think its also really good / useful to have staff that just like, hang out rather than always having to be On Messageâ„¢ or whatever :p
