Overwatch Nerf Thoughts
What do you think analyst blizzard decision to nerf McCree and Widowmaker?
I think they done a great job at indirectly buffing Zenyatta; which was definitely needed.

McCree was definitely overpowered. The Fan the Hammer/Flashbang/Combat Roll combo was such that he was able to 1v1 tanks too easily. Ceteris paribus, a DPS hero should not be able to 1v1 a tank hero with ease. That's what was happening with McCree before the patch, so the team at Blizzard nerfed him a bit to bring his power back in line with what they intended for his role.
Any idea when they'll be patching the console versions? This patch is apparently PC only at the moment, so I haven't had a chance to try the new changes.
it was exactly what you want out of nerfs, fix the easy and spammable parts of kits while keeping the characters core playstyles the same
I'm not sure why. They were already two of the weakest characters...
From what I've gathered, McCree was actually slaughtering tanks slightly too easily with Fan the Hammer/flashbang spams. The current changes to him will keep him effective against DPSers, but dial him back a bit when it comes to just slaughtering Reinhardts and Zaryas all day long. - It's basically to stop him from being the end all be-all counter option for anything you might face. I've not been too great with McCree myself, but I've seen people absolutely dominate as him.
As for Widowmaker, she was slightly too effective with spamming body shots and had her ultimate up slightly too often. So the changes there should dial back her spamminess without hindering her ability to still easily kill people with consistent headshots. - The reasoning behind this is that she was causing slightly too much frustration at every level of play, right up to the competitive scene.
Overall the changes are pretty subtle, so it should change the characters too much. Just enough to keep them from overperforming where they shouldn't be.
subtle? 420 damage fan is now 270
As the vast majority of targets (i.e. all non-tanks) have less than 250 health, as single fan against a (stunned) target will still kill nearly anybody outright, especially the squishier backline harassers like Genji and Tracer, that McCree is designed to deal with.
It doesn't change the playstyle, it doesn't change McCree's effectiveness against most targets, it only dials him back a bit against tanks, which makes it a pretty subtle change in effect.
it makes fans against non-stunned targets much worse because you tend to miss a portion of your fan. i don't know why you use Genji as an example because yes, you can stun him, but if he reflects either your stun, fan, or ult, you are screwed. McCree's ult is deceptively bad if it isn't used in combination with other crowd control, his kit is comparatively boring, and he was only fun to play due to strength of his fan combos.
Are you playing on console perhaps? This is for PC only.
The community's use of those characters seems to contradict that statement: http://i.imgur.com/Q4gOV0z.png
this ruins McCree for me
Good. Maybe now you can try the other 20 characters rather than going McCree every match.
In all seriousness, McCree has just been brought in line with other heroes.

Jesus Christ, dude, chill out
This will all be sorted out soon. There's currently a bug with Imzy that the developers are fixing as we speak. Thank you for your patience. :)
Pretty great so far. I haven't had any body-shot champion widdows completely shutting my team down today, and no tank-killing McCrees, so job done on that front I suppose. I'm still waiting on that D.Va buff though - mostly because I already enjoy playing her so much and honestly don't think she's particularly under-powered, so a buff is just going to serve my particular play tastes quite well.
