board games!
The boarder's hoard: your new monthly board game column
Board games have become a big deal in recent years, with growing numbers of players looking for a more sociable alternative to consoles, computers and smartphones. That rising demand has been met by talented designers turning out innovative new games at an incredible rate, but, with thousands of titles hitting the shelves each year, choosing the right ones can be tricky.
Yay! Shiny new Guardian column! About board games! I approve.
I got into board games a few years ago, when a friend convinced me to accompany her to our local board game café. Since then I've used them as a kind of last ditch effort to bond with my brothers and cousins (it's hard enough finding other things that we have in common)
Re: the column, I don't own a Ticket To Ride at home, so there's no risk of me getting bored with the original version of the game that we play annually at chinese new year (my cousin-in-law's set). Sneaky Cards does sound interesting though, but I wonder about the chances of Malaysians being willing to participate in such a social experiment lol
Also I am tagging this under Videogames bc too lazy to make a new tag
