me, forever tired

I honestly thought I was working the day shift yesterday? Rocked up to work at 8am, went to the operating theatre's changing room before bumping into a colleague and going "surely there can't be two of us working the same shift". Turns out it can't.

So, yeah, another 24-hour oncall shift in ICU, with only 4 hours of sleep beforehand. Hoorah!

Not too bad a night though. Nice boss was oncall ('sup, Dr Alex). Managed to nap on a couch. Forgot it was Malaysia's independence day today (public holiday? what public holiday?)

Also, this happened, which is still the greatest:

ahh!

MY CHILDREN, THEY HAVE NOTICED ME (& my fanart)

(sidenote: I keep affectionately referring to them as "my children", and I still can't decide whether that is creepy or not. I just....... really love and support them and everything they do?)

I still can't look directly at that photo, lol. Too much self-aware embarrassment for some reason. Yay, anxiety! I'm still proud as peaches though. Can't believe Andrew babysat those badges from Edinburgh to their London offices. I WISH THIS PODCAST HAD MORE FANDOM-Y FAN PEOPLE TO APPRECIATE WHAT A GREAT THING THIS IS (& also because I have so many of those badges left)

Other things:

  • finished Sara Pascoe's book, "Animal". Funny, serious, brutally honest all at the same time. The chapters on sexual consent need to be compulsary reading in schools.

  • new podcasts that are going on my ever expanding To Listen list, all by Sofie Hagen: The Guilty Femenist, Comedians Telling Stuff (straightforward, i like), and her new one, Made Of Human

I saw Sofie's latest Edinburgh show, which was incredible and every single time she talks about anxiety it feels like she is looking into my soul and transcribing my thoughts and feelings into words that I have never been able to express. I was a bit teary-eyed at the end of the show, contemplated giving her a hug, but instead said "thank you" a bit too loudly and shoved a 10 quid note into her bucket before ducking out of the venue in shame. DAMMIT, SELF.

  • will actually be working the day shift in OT tomorrow. Yes, I double checked the roster.
