I would totally want to work in LOCCENT. Push buttons! Share gossip with Tendo! Be as close as the action as one can be without actually going through gruesome pilot training!
Be as close as the action as one can be without actually going through gruesome pilot training!
Hahaha that is such a legit point! It looks so stressful there tho, but I guess it can't be as bad as the pilots. It's like getting front seats to all the action haha
Ahah true! I think it would be really stressful - you need to be as focused and alert as the pilots - but at least you can drink coffee and not have someone poking around your head. I wouldn't let just anyone do that, but since you don't really get to chose your copilot... :'
I think to some extent, you do have a say as to who your copilot can be. Look at Herc & Chuck, and the Wei Tang brothers (and possibly the Russians). You probably are allowed to choose who you partner, but drift compatibility would need to be tested as well before it can be confirmed. I think Raleigh's case was the anamoly because
They were running out of time
He didn't have anyone he would willingly drift with
He's the protagonist and his story needs to be unique hahaha
I remember I almost bought it, but I don't normally buy books and decided against it in the end haha. Would still like to read it at some point though. It'd be great if they had a lot of backstories and explanations inside. I haven't heard much about it though o:
Ahah, not much a reader, are you?
I got into a sort of "omg must buy ALL THE THINGS" frenzy after I saw the movie, so I have both the book and the "of monsters, machines and men" artbook (which is lovely and full of nice infos! it came with posters and stickers, too!).
I'll read it soon(tm) and let you know if there's anything interesting inside :3
Haha yeah! I do enjoy reading, but it takes so much motivation before I actually get around to actual books. Fanfics are fine cause they're usually shorter (not to say I haven't read those crazy long ones before)
And oh gosh, if there was one art book I would spend all my savings on, it would be the Pacific Rim art book. And thanks! Take your time, hope it's great! :D
Ah, yes, I feel you on that, although to me it's more of an attention span issue more than motivation - I get tired or lost after a few hundred pages and I start skipping paragraphs without realising it.
I got the artbook for something like 35-40€ on Amazon, I think? Maybe you can find it for even cheaper now...
I get that sometimes too. It really depends on how interested I am in the story though. And most times, I just read through it all anyways cause I've already spent so much time on it anyways?
Looks like it's around that price in my local book store. Now, if only I had a use for an art book hahaha (I know I said I'd spend all my savings, but I still feel bad about it? tbh I never really buy books cause I don't know what to do with them once I'm done. I prefer pdf/e-books, but that's not nice for an art book)
I know, right? Sometimes you find books you can't let go of and sometimes you just power through out of sheer spite. I started a huge 1,000 pages monster last night and I'm pretty happy with myself, cause I was able to stop after a few chapters, although it was so good that I really wanted to read all night long. (Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell, if you've heard about it?)
Well, I dabble in fanwriting, so it's useful for references, or just dipping into the movie's atmosphere without getting sucked into an umpteenth rewatch. I just tend to read it several times? Just to look at the pretty pictures? I'm sure you could find a pdf version... "somewhere"...
Oh yes, in fact someone recommended it to me about a week ago! Definitely interested to read it at some point. It sounds so long though hahaha. But fantasy has always been my thing so I'm pretty excited once I get my hands on it.
And I get what you mean. I've rewatched Pacific Rim so many times. Once it played on TV when I was walking past and I just stood there watching for a long time before I realized I could literally just sit down on my couch to watch it hahaha. And yeah, I'll probably find the pdf somewhere, as how I tend to find most books I read
It is very long! And very... verbose, I guess? I love it because it's hilarious, but that might not be your thing. They made it into a miniserie, too, an introduction to which you can conveniently find here. I watched the show first, that helped :p
lol I picked Kaiju nerd even though I wanted Jaeger pilot cause... idk to actually share my thoughts/memories/etc with someone feels so... intrusive. The idea sounds great, but not something I'd really do continuously. Maybe try it out once.
I've put myself with Technical crew, for lack of a better option, but I honestly think I'd end up in some type of logistics. Making sure all those people have food, the gear they need, and a berth to sleep. Do some innocent matchmaking by assigning the new hottie a room across Mako Mori... Logistics is where the fun is yo!
Oh man, I totally forgot about management teams within the shatterdome. Well, I guess it's too late now? I can actually add the option, but since you've already voted...
And yes, playing matchmaking is such a great abuse use of power. Consider: Purposely giving Raleigh the wrong room number, so he'd end up at Mako's room. Give's another way for the whole walking in on him scenario.
"Why are you naked in my room."
"I thought... this was my room?"
"My suitcase is literally right there."
sooo out of character, but it's been awhile since I've watched pacific rim anyways :P

Mmh, you might have a point here! I've been meaning to read the novelisation in ages, maybe I'll learn more about it there...

Oh, you can't change your vote? Ah well, learned something new!
But yeah, logistics is where the real power is :D
Well if there is a way, I have not found it yet haha
J-tech for sure!
