Alaska, one of the best times of my life

In 2014 I was invited out to visit my brother stationed out in Fairbanks, Alaska. He wanted to take me along on a roadtrip with him and his family across as much of Alaska as possible. We spent about three weeks driving, hiking, camping and just enjoying each others company(drinks! moonshine! fish! jerky! ramen?!).
Was so happy to look back to these pictures and see most were all geotagged by my phone back then. Here is a map so y'all can get a general idea of how much of Alaska was covered! It's such a huge state, there is still so much more to see!
And with that, I'll be sharing with y'all most of what I saw. Enjoy! Oh and BTW... VISIT ALASKA!!!!
Seward
The darkest night I experienced out there! (3AM - Seward)
On the way to Exit Glacier:
Exit Glacier: The most physically demanding hike I've ever done, working so hard to get to this point was such a rewarding experience. Here is an exerpt from Alaska.org about this particular trail at Exit Glacier:
If youβre looking for more of an adventure, take the Harding Icefield Trail, which climbs 3,500 feet in 4.2 miles, and is 8.4 miles round-trip (9 miles roundtrip from the visitor center). It is a challenging day hike, but you are treated with stunning views of the 700-square-mile Harding Icefield. This massive icefield, located within Kenai Fjords National Park, is the source of 38 named glaciers, including Exit. This steep trail is best suited for in-shape hikers (might be hard on the knees, too).
Side note: It was extremely hard on my knees :P
Again, if you have the opportunity please go see Alaska. Be sure to plan accordingly! Timing and weather needs to be seriously considered, can't stress that enough!
GET YOURSELF SOME HIKING BOOTS IF YOU'RE GOING TO HIKE! I climbed Exit with an old pair of Airforce Ones... We decided to hike spontaneously, I wasn't prepared and had a very scary experience because of it.
That last posted picture could've been my last, after taking it and moving on I slipped on a heavy patch of snow. Had I not fallen the way I did I'm positive I would've been dead. No one would've known, I was alone at the time. Please prepare yourself!
I hope you all enjoyed the photos! -Rob

Great shots! It looks like conveniently summer in most of them though. ;-)
A lot of awesome shots here. That sounds like an awesome hike too. I would seriously think about killing to visit.
Oh yeah, was definitely summer time!! We wanted to travel as much as possible, and snowy roads would've likely kept us stuck in Fairbanks. I've heard horror stories of people being trapped on the highway during snow season & not making it.
Yeah, snow and cold is nothing to fool around with. It's a dangerous living.
these are really amazing images, beautiful work. You hiked in some Air Force Ones?!! Did you slip? I thought Air Force Ones "fly in any weather" haha
Haha!! I'm really bad about buying sneakers and stuff, mostly because it's a pain to find my size (14).
Whatever little traction those sneakers had were worn off from years of use before they even touched Alaskas soil π I slipped plenty and the sections we had to hop through weren't pretty, but we did make it up in about 3 and a half hours!
Damn! Size 14? Thankfully, my size fits children, women's and teen so I've got some choices, haha!
Absolutly breathtaking! Fantastic! A dream of a landscape. Thank you so much for this overwhelming reportage.
Happy to share!! Thanks Jammin and Sncalaska for motivating me to get this post together!
Will go there next year, thanks for posting
Glad to hear it! π
Fantastic images! I gotta get up there some day.
Thank you, hope you will! I feel everyone needs to go out there at least once in their life.
Want to know something crazy?! My cousin and I barely saw anyone while hiking at Exit... EXCEPT FOR TWO PEOPLE WHO RAN AND HOPPED UP THE ENTIRE THING. One guy with only shorts on while barefooted.
Brave man!
Yup! I thought he might've lived nearby, as he blew through the trail like it was his backyard!
