Discussion | I'm Scared of Strobes
Hey folks,
Just wondering what everyone's experiences with speedlites and other strobes have been like whether you use them day to day or more sparsely. Do you find yourself relying on them? Do you never use them?
I personally have only ever used continuous lighting as I come from more of a film/video background and it's something I've really wanted to get more into.

I have no budget so I haven't yet gone there. The woman who runs a portrait studio out of the office next to mine uses speed lights all the time though. I really want to get there someday.
The only flash I've ever owned is the one on my camera. I tend to like ambient light and I'm a bit minimalist (Read: poor and lazy). I've used my on-camera flash successfully as a fill-flash though. (I'd dig you out a sample, but I'm too far from my digital photo stash to connect.)
I intend to experiment with light painting though. It intrigues me.

No experience here either, but I've seen some amazing things done with them, and I want one badly.
