A Question About Purchasing A Used Lens - Canon FD Lens to Canon EOS Rebel T3
Okay someone (not here) suggested I should purchase a Canon FD 50mm 1:1.8 lens and since I had some Amazon gift cards I thought what the hell. I can use a nice prime lens with decent bokeh. Now I find out it might not connect to my Canon EOS Rebel T3 without an adapter? Can someone out there with more knowledge help me out and clarifie this for me?
Thanks.

Well .... I have the Nikon version of pretty much the same thing and love it. The 35mm too.
Yeah, it looks like you need an EF or EF-S lens, so yeah you'll need an adapter. Fixed lenses are great because they produce sharper images but an adapter will probably negate that (not totally sure though).
Even getting the adapter I'll spend less than half the EF version.
Here's a test video a guy did with the lens on the T3i: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0eTL1jPRwM ]
Here's the first shot with this new lens.
I just ordered this adapter and Amazon was kind enough to give me free 2 day shipping.

I have nothing useful to add but it's an interesting discussion.
Used lenses are super cheap and offer a different look. I lose auto focus, but I've been doing less of that anyway.
You do need an adapter for an FD lens. You will probably lose infinity focus but should be able to focus nearby I hope
Yes. I did get one that infinity focus is supposed to work on.
You know what? It's awesome you are trying these old lenses. They enable such beautiful photos.
Also explore an m42 adapter (about $5) with focus confirm and m42 lenses via eBay
Thanks for the tip! I will.
You are most welcome. You can also get random adaptall lenses and Canon adapter
