Scavenger Hunt, Winter Edition!
The goal is to win the most points. Capture as many items as possible from the following list and post them into the comments. Images must be new, but they don't necessarily have to found in the wild. There are creative ways to capture all of these.
The contest runs until the end of January. Good luck!
Prizes
- 1st prize wins a hand-knit photopigs hat!
- 2nd place wins a $5 tip
- 3rd place wins a $5 tip
To be eligible for the hat, you must agree to post a photograph of you taking a photograph of yourself in the hat. No exceptions. You will be maliciously banned from the community if you don't! so this is super serious legal binding stuff. ;-)
In the event that the first place winner does not want the hat, they can claim the $10 tip, and then 2nd and 3rd prizes duke it out in a match of sudden death.

Oh my gosh, that hat is so neat!! Your knitting skills never cease to amaze me.
I always try to learn something new with each project. Thanks! :-D
I'll update this comment as I get pics and bump it, but I'm going to start off with an IFFY one. If you don't accept it, no worries. It made me giggle to consider it
AND WE SHALL FEAST!!! on this ginormous gingerbread house that just happens to look like Hogwarts (the back side, the pic of the front has gone on walkabout - note, it was a Harry Potter themed display/competition to raise money for JDRF. This one represented book 2 - Chamber of Secrets
)
Spent the day at Olallie State Park where SNOW WAY, IT'S COLD! And so, so beautiful
I also ran across this PAWSITIVELY ADORABLE little doggie. His owners graciously allowed me to use him for the scavenger hunt. He's even wearing a Santa sweater!
I'm not sure if my adorable little doggie was responsible for the YELLOW SNOW, but yeah, we came across some of that as well.
So, the weather outside today up on the Snoqualmie Pass was pretty frightful. 27 F, gusty winds, and snow deep enough to hide a car in.
Outside the movie theater at The Landing, a shopping area in Renton, you can keep cozy and warm at the fireplace while waiting for your movie to start
Edited in three more entries!
Holy crap! That gingerbread house is crazy.
Right? There were lights and the staircases moved inside the cut out. There were six in all from the first six books, all made by chefs, and were on display at the Sheraton to raise money for charity. This one, though, looked the most like a gingerbread house (only the Xtreme version) so I used it. My favorite is probably Dumbledore and a Phoenix from Book 5, but it looked mostly like fondant (though life-sized or slightly larger than life-sized) so didn't have the same vibe. :)
Totally fun, but I don't want to know how long they took to make. :-\
+4 BTW. Oops.
lol I was going to wait until closer to the end to ask. It's the holidays. Things get smudged over.
Yep, I was in ND for a couple days. Not much time for internet things. :-)
Finally dug your way out, I see ;)
Apparently, they have another blizzard coming. There's usually one or two, but this is number three so far this year.
Yeah, they can keep that foolishness. I like being able to drive up to see the snow, then leaving that mess behind to go home.
Added one for the weather outside is frightful since it was deep enough to almost bury that truck.
And another for cozy and warm by the fireplace
Pee snow

I just want the damned hat! I'd wear that to work all winter.
Oh, and there will be competition. Word leaked early, and they wants it bad! 100% pure non-itchy wool. High-quality stuff. It's a pretty damned nice as you can see.
Tips. We need tips to make more. Maybe we could sell some in the shop, too. If I'm feeling generous ... oh never mind. ;-)
Who knitted the hat?
That would be me. :-)
I will never cease to be amazed. Photography, knitting....WHATS NEXT. Do you use a round loom, or just needles? I've only ever crocheted a hat -- I'm just not patient enough to knit anything more than a scarf or blanket :P
I am one of "those" people. The list of what I haven't tried is probably shorter. lol
Hats are super easy with a circular needle. I'm not normally patient enough either, knitting makes me slow down and pay attention to all the tiny details. Infinitely frustrating in the beginning, but worth it for the mental skills in the long run.
Kudos on the knitting. I learnt to knit once because I drunkenly promised a random person from the pub I'd knit them a toy version of their horse :)
I was in a craft store looking for construction paper and bought yarn and needles on a whim. lol
Well it took me a week, and I had to learn from diagrams (it turned out I didn't know anyone who could knit), but they got their horse :)
I learned from videos, but haven't done anything like a horse. Hats and scarfs mostly.
It was a rather rudimentary horse :)
Wow, that took some real skill man! I'll have to do something like this for my next project ... after the chicken sweater. lol
It was a really basic pattern, that hat you've done would be significantly more difficult. Biggest hurdle I had was a lack of a crotchet hook for the tail and mane, I used a cable tie in the end

Oh man, crochet is hard enough with a hook, lol, but I did manage to make the horns for this Imzysaurus hat:
I will never crochet again. Probably.
I promise you crocheting a whole hat would be quicker than knitting.
this is too cute!
I am so impressed with this! You are amazing
I was happy with it and my secret santa seemed happy too. weffey helped by suggesting to crochet the horns. It probably would have been a disaster otherwise. :-)
I'm properly dressed
Also gotta love the Rex! +1

Sweet! these are some tough finds, this hunt is going to be good
Paws? I'll get a shot of a skating rink soon, this challenge is tough

The weather outside is freightful Just before the snow storm with a ghostly sun
That is indeed frightful! +1
Skating Rink, not the best shot
but it works! +1
ill takes it! :)
Many of these will be super hard. It doesn't snow here except in snow globes.
There are creative ways to find all of these, no matter where you're located. I'm also pretty easy when it comes to judging. :-)
Red berries
half point each, so +1
Pawsitivly adorable

The best gift that ever existed {friendship} - my roomies and I in our matching pj pants & fuzzy socks
(I know I can only get one point for each tag, but I loved this one too and couldn't decide)
the best gift that ever existed {family} - my bf and a few of the many dogs that were around for the holidays walking down the hill.
Inappropriately dressed for winter: She was wearing a sweater. And she took it off by herself.
And we shall feast! Made by my bf - he can cook a mean meal. Not the traditional Christmas ham & trimmings, but a southern seafood boil. Delicious.
Cozy & warm by the fire place. Her favorite place the whole Christmas break.
Traveling for the holidays. She's a little bit spoiled.
Yellow snow. (SO much of this with 5 dogs.)
SNOW WAY ITS COLD. Dude. So cold with all the snow. The face says it all.
Wreath/garland with red berries.
Pawsitively adorable (again two pictures. cause she's just too cute.)
Bundled up.
Watching Cmas dinner be made while wearing her reindeer costume.
The weather outside is frightful! 35 and cooling w/flurries- supposed to get some heavier snowfall in a couple hours. All happening as I'm about to drive back down to AL >.<

Holy freaking crap! That is quite possibly the best feast I have ever seen.
+9
It was soooooooooooo good! If y'all ever are in the south and want a good meal, hit me up :)
I will do that without question, especially if the spread (and the presentation) is half as good as that photo!
Added: The weather outside is frightful!
Kittens mittens
Where's the kitten/cat?
Awesome shot! I love the placement of the kitten mittens!
Red berries on a wreath... They are there!
Our holiday travel was indoor playgrounds
