My sisters and I spent a few days in Asheville, NC this last weekend. The downtown area was probably my favorite place to walk around with the camera. These are a few of the many shots I took. More to come. :-)
Hey now, one of our best buskers has a tin can full of rocks and a piece of metal rolled into a cone he uses for a horn. He does New Orleans jazz and his voice is fantastic. I throw money at that man all the time.
On the other side of that, there's a guy with a piano on wheels who rolls it to the corner and plays classical XD I love Seattle.
There was an art installation in Minneapolis last year where they placed pianos all over the city for people to play. It was pretty cool to hear what people could play (or couldn't play).
The guys with the bucket and no talent are pretty much only disguised panhandlers looking for some better luck (drunk tourists probably can't tell they're not musicians). I've also seen a guy bring his guitar amp out and playing the same three-chord strum pattern over and over and over again (like I could totally do that too! lol). We do have some real buskers, particularly downtown, Dinkytown (neighborhood by the university), and uptown (chic town) though and they're fun even when they try to charge you for a photograph.
Oh, and there is a group of guy with buckets and sticks that totally are talented and draw a pretty big crowd, so my point is more about the fake busker guys that are actually panhandling.
I spend too much time on the streets. I know way too much about our buskers. lol
I get ya. There are some that just have little talent. I'm more inclined to give a buck or two to those who make the effort though over straight up begging. At least they're trying! (Or I have a soft heart)
I love street musicians. One of the main reasons I keep cash on me lol
We don't really see them much here but I sure did enjoy them during our visit to Asheville.
.. and here, we get people that simply have a bucket, stick and no talent, "busking" the street. lol

Nice! We don't get street musicians here.
The street musicians are everywhere in Asheville. It's very cool. Thanks, EG!
