Test Shots

This top image was shot at f11; 1/60 sec; ISO 800 with a the Canon EOS Rebel T3 and the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM Lens I have just purchased ( less than $150.00 USD after tax ). I'm really poor these days to I researched and debated the merits of spending that money on a prime lens that I might not like...
Here are some shots I got giving it a work out-
After using the lens for just a half a day I really like it. It might just become my go to lens. It's a lot sharper than my 18-55mm kit zoom and better for closer work than my ultra-wide 10-22mm zoom that, up until now, has been my go to.
It does get noisy at high ISOs and so does my camera (sigh). I noticed it's really quiet at auto focus and it's small and light. I'll try some close up flower macros later today. The bokeh is great at the bigger apertures making it tempting just to leave it set at 2.8 and lower.
This is my first prime lens and will take some time to get used to, but I really do like it.

Yep, fixed lenses are sharper, and an 55mm f/1.8 is definitely a great lens to have as gear. The difference in color is noticeable, particularly in the shot of the second dog jumping and the frigid lighthouse scene.
I'm getting noticeably better color right out of the camera with this lens. I've been trying to get a nice macro shot without using a macro ring, but having issues focusing too close to an object, plus my house is dark even with lights on. LOL.
Your rebel in Italy should be the 100D, I got it and I've got the 50mm f/1,8 stm, chip, but great lens! And your pics are very nice
Thanks. I've had the T3/100D for about 4 years now. I'm hoping that in a year or 2 I'll be able to upgrade to something like the Canon 80D.
Nice cam, I've fot the 70D, but recentely I bought the Panasonic GX80/85, a step ahead, I love this Lumix ML
Excellent! Makes me want to think about some new gear.
I'm told this is the best selling Canon lens world-wide. Don't know if that's true or not. lol. The price is good and got it local for a $1 more than I would online. I did put the UV filter on it to protect the glass for and extra $8. Now I need to save up for a better zoom and a real macro and I'll be all set.
Yeah, when I was out with the camera this morning, I was really wishing for a better zoom.
