Watermarks?
This is kind of a side discussion -- I haven't put a lot of my work on the internet before, but now that I am, I'm looking into watermarking and all that. I was wondering how you all do watermarks for your photos.
Thanks!

for ones uploaded to deviantArt i can choose to watermark them with a dA stamp before they get uploaded. if someone wants to see the original and maybe use it as a wallpaper, they can contact me and I will send them the original.
There are people that have problems with watermarking. They see it as tacky but that's because too many people use big garish ones. I've seen some really cool stuff, though, like stitching it seamlessly into the images so it's barely noticeable.
I think watermarks are distracting to the overall image but there are a few other things I do to prevent theft. Lightroom adds my copyright information to the meta data (but this can be erased). I shoot RAW so I have the absolute original file. I resize images to display for web and never ever ever post a full-size image. I only don't want others to profit from my work, if I need to make a claim against someone my case is bulletproof.
I create mine in Photoshop and then use Place Embedded to add it to my image. I could even make this an action to automate the process for batch work.
I have this weird software called Sea Turtle :-)
