When's your planning time?
Do you set aside some time each day or week to sort out a plan or to-do list? What does your planning session look like?
I do the bulk of mine at the dining room table or on a Sunday afternoon, surrounded by all the various bits of stickers and tape I like to use because I'm a stationery need. Then I do mini to-do lists each morning to keep on top of changing priorities and stuff that comes up during the day.
How 'bout you?

I plan my general week out on Saturday night, but do the daily stuff about half an hour before I go to bed.
My planning session is pretty simple, I just sit down at the coffee table or my desk. Grab a few markers, a ruler, and a black pen and just write everything out. I like stuff in very orderly fashion and not very embellished or over the top.
Good point, I need to think about planning again. There aren't enough routines in my life, which means my mental energy may be dissipated by minor changes. (Should parts be boring, to make other parts more interesting?)
When I had routines, I'd plan a) at the start of projects and b) start of day.
More recently (until a couple weeks ago), I'd play an investigator: my real job is to produce a document/notes, and the actual delivered thing is almost incidental. I'd plan at the start of task: write out multiple ways to accomplish many steps, with advantages & disadvantages of each.
Now I'm just being sloppy in all ways. :P But recently I have something to accomplish which requires me to get un-sloppy.
Weekly planning on Sunday evening, and the work bullet list gets rewritten every day before I leave. The todo list is checked daily after dinner, or at least it should be :)
I never sit and do a full week plan... Doesn't fit my life because my partner and I are polar opposites. I plan, he's spontaneous. I have schedules, his (through virtue of his career path) can fluctuate. So I plan on the fly as something becomes apparent it needs addressing I make a note and try to sneak it in somewhere in the future where it doesn't conflict with other notes. I just need a spot for all my notes so that my house isn't covered in scraps of paper and post-it stickies.
I'm almost minimalist; I just use black pens and markers (recollections fineliners, which are only $5 at Michael's) for a touch of color on headers. It doesn't take me long.
I tend to plan first thing in the morning, over coffee. If I do it the night before, my brain gets too excited to sleep because I want to be productive, haha.
