I find this new tracker so weird! I don't want to be told exactly where the pokémon is, I much prefer the "warmer, no, colder, WARMER WARMER!" approach! I guess it wasn't feasible and I should just let it go, but I'm sad about it.

Yeah, apparently the issue was it was leading people into private property etc even when pokemon weren't spawning there. So this tracker will tell you exactly where a pokemon is (by a pokestop, which should be public property) so you can make it there without trespassing.

I have concerns for how it'll fare in areas with fewer pokestops, but they're being so slow rolling this thing out hopefully that means they'll be trying very hard to implement it elegantly.

Gosh, I hope so too. :s

Yeah, I have mixed feelings about this. Any progress is good to see, but this particular scheme will be useless in areas like my neighborhood which have plenty of pokemon but zero pokestops. Honestly I'd be satisfied with something like a vague map direction ("this quadrant" or something) on the nearby/sightings pokemon, though I suppose that would have the same "walk into private property" problem. There's only so much you can do to keep people from making poor decisions in a real-world game, though.
