Breitbart news site blocked by ad exchange

  • News

A leading ad exchange has blacklisted Breitbart News, which until recently was run by one of US President-elect Donald Trump's closest advisers. AppNexus said it would no longer allow Breitbart to sell ad space via its platform, after determining that the site had broken its code on hate speech and incitement to violence.

Is AppNexus big enough for this to be at all relevant?

Maybe not, but hopefully it will cause Google and other advertisers to wake up.

My understanding is that AppNexus is a pretty significant player. Wikipedia seems to agree:

As of 2015, AppNexus servers process up to 45 billion ad buys per day at peak; AppNexus handled an estimated $2 billion in ad spending in 2014, giving it the biggest reach on the open web after Google.
