Comey misstated key Clinton email evidence at hearing, say people close to investigation

In defending his decisions, FBI Director overstated conduct of Clinton aide Huma Abedin.

Neither of those statements is accurate, said people close to the investigation. The inquiry found that Abedin did occasionally forward emails to her husband for printing, but it was a far smaller number than Comey described, and it wasn’t a “regular practice,” these people said. None of the forwarded emails were marked classified, but a small number — a handful, one person said — contained information that was later judged to contain classified information, these people said.

Justice Department and FBI officials are considering whether and how to clarify the misstatements, said people familiar with the matter. The issue of the misstatements was first reported by ProPublica.

So Comey lied about the number and content of the emails. It also looks like the FBI has some house cleaning they need to do since the NYC office was leaking information to Rudy Giuliani prior to the election.

Yes, he has been fired and deservedly so... as his every comment seemed to cast the FBI further and further into the darkness.

His termination at least shifts the negative eye away from the FBI. That is about all it does.

Many are calling for a Special Prosecutor, but for what reason? They already know the SP would just be the lightning rod to redirect attention away from FBI/Comey.

    Update, Trump just fired Comey.

FBI Director James B. Comey has been dismissed by the president, according to White House spokesman Sean Spicer.

“The president has accepted the recommendation of the Attorney General and the deputy Attorney General regarding the dismissal of the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation,” Spicer told reporters in the briefing room, according to a pool report.
