This is really sad but not unexpected. Rather than plug the gap by lifting the cap on social security taxes or reforming our broken tax system they're simply going to give more money to affluent retirees and slash benefits for everyone else. The entire proposal boils down to eliminating or reducing cost of living adjustments for most retirees, slashing benefits, and giving more money to people who are already well off.

    The hollowing-out of America continues.

Notice how none of these cuts affect current retirees, it only affects the ones that retire after them. If it affected current retirees then it would be a problem but affecting their children doesnt matter.

Exactly the same as what happened with Medicare part D. The older generation is one of the most reliable voting blocks so of course their benefits will be protected at all cost and expanded at the expense of everyone that comes after them.

The typical GOP plan, fuck you I got mine. They make sure they get what they want and take advantage of it then remove it from those that come after them.

Funny how the GOP always say tax cuts are the solution to any funding issue. Yet their solution to poor people is the poor need to make more money. By the GOP logic anytime you need more money to pay bills you quit your job and take a lower paying job then when your pay cant go any lower you cut your hours.
