Newt Gingrich wants new House Un-American Activities Committee
"We originally created the House Un-American Activities Committee to go after Nazis," he said during an appearance on "Fox and Friends" this week. "We passed several laws in 1938 and 1939 to go after Nazis and we made it illegal to help the Nazis. We're going to presently have to go take the similar steps here."

This strikes me as...unwise. The House Un-American Activities Committee was so easily hijacked by fear during the "Red Scare," and a lot of people were investigated and blacklisted and put on trial under false pretenses. This kind of thing seems more like something we do just to make us FEEL better, rather than actually accomplishing anything. (But then again, I don't know the details on how successful the House Un-American Activities Committee was during World War II.)
It was successful in being yet another shameful black spot on the history of the US.
Crap, am I going to be blacklisted for saying that?
Only if you're a communist. ;)
Well, crap. It just so happens that I AM a communist! So, am I on "Newt's List" now? Or is that just Muslims?
You do realize communism has killed millions and has proved itself to be garbage right? Or are you just an edgy fat kid who associates himself with an extremely oppressive and totalitarian ideology to come off as cool?
I suggest you read up on the various types of Leftist thought before you assume that every Communist believes in violence.
By all means, give me some sources.
This would be a start: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nonviolent_revolution
Also, lookup Pacifism.
The wartime HUAC was successful in forcing Japanese Americans into internment camps, while the Ku Klux Klan, which had offered support to Nazi Germany, was not investigated in any way because it was "an American institution".
sigh Yeah.
It would be a sad day if this committee was resurrected. It has such a black history. I hate to think about the witch hunt that could occur. This committee, in the 1950's, destroyed the lives of many people by accusing them, without proof, of being communists.
