U.S. Energy Department balks at Trump request for names on climate change

The U.S. Energy Department said on Tuesday it will not comply with a request from President-elect Donald Trump's Energy Department transition team for the names of people who have worked on climate change and the professional society memberships of lab workers.

    It is the first draft of a political enemies list. It doesn't just feel like it. But he is not the king of the land. He is beholden to laws, principles, processes and institutions. He cannot simply act like a kid in a lolly shop, dispersing favours for 'friends'.

      well...kinda. i think one of the major things Trump's election has highlighted is how much of our democracy has basically been held together with the scotch tape of tradition, decency, and worrying about one's own image. there are a lot of things it's clear he has no checks balancing against him on, such as certain appointments that don't require congressional approval or certain conflicts of interest.

        pretty much. i think what the left needs to have as a major takeaway from this election is trump just provided a nice, clearly defined list of key points to campaign on, both in the fractures in our democratic establishment and in the hollow, impossible promises he made to desperate people of the working class. he's pretty much handed over the ammo and told us to find a gun.
