Doctor Appointment
You have an appointment with a doctor to discuss your upcoming surgery and are sitting in the waiting room.
How long after your scheduled appointment time can you wait before becoming angry?

I kind of think that for the amount of money you're paying them they should be able to get you in on time. I don't care if that would make them miss out on their 3 day weekends. When the overbooking comes at my expense, I don't feel sorry for them.
I normally don't take an entitled attitude but in this specific case I feel that I've payed for it. I'm the type of person that still tips like normal having waited 30 minutes longer than usual at a restaurant.
Totally. I'm actually afraid of letting my anger out because I want to keep any sense of entitlement in check. But I agree! Like, what the fuck?! And even worse, sometimes they don't even acknowledge the inconvenience. Fucking apologize! Ugh!
30 minutes really is my limit lol...
I don't blame you at all. I personally have felt like a drama queen having walked out after two hours, but I really start fuming around 15 minutes.
Sometimws I have to wait sooo long 😐. Once I had to wait 3 hours in the night to check smth really quick. It wasnt planned and it was in the night , but it still sucked. So i did 3 hours xD
But I start getting angry earlier I think.....
Was the office busy?
Eh Ita a while ago... I remember that I waited 30 min for a kid that was crying like hell xD yeah i guess it was busy.
3 hours is a really long time even without an appointment. I imagine that if you went at night you were up against people who had emergencies?
It actually was in this emergency room ! But they were super busy i guess...
Yikes. It's like that here too. But we also have 24 hour clinics for things that are not quite emergencies. I believe they were made and promoted to ease the strain on emergency rooms. You get seen pretty quickly.
i've waited several hours, thank goodness for pokemon go so i can at least walk away from the screaming kids in the waiting room. i used to take a book or knitting with me or try to do sudoku on my phone but i couldn't focus in such a noisy environment.
Is several hours common for you? Like does that happen frequently?
not all the time but sometimes i'll say "i'm not seeing a registrar, the appointment slip says i will be seeing my specialist so i will wait for her". sometimes it's having to wait after treatments for several hours with whiny kids and the tv stuck on channel 7's "sunrise" that gets me!
when i used to do desensitisation to allergens as a teenager i would have to sit for hours and waste half my school day in a clinic full of little kids and i'd be stressed and feeling unwell and vomit up my pills (knew better than to eat breakfast before i went to an appointment).
I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes after my appointment time. Last visit I was taken early.
Waiting for up to 45 mins after your appointment time is normal at UK GPs, we do usually have signs that let you know how late your GP is currently.
😥
After the one-hour mark I start getting grumpy and complaining on twitter or in the LGC discord. After two hours I would definitely go up to the front desk to ask if I haven't been mysteriously overlooked. I've definitely been at a women's hospital where I've been called about an hour and a half after my appointment time but I wasn't working then and figured it couldn't be helped because emergencies happen and tiny humans are difficult to herd at the best of times!
I always feel like I'm overreacting when the wait hits an hour, but that's when I get angry. If I schedule an appointment I expect to be seen at that time.
If I were there in limited time before work and that time were rapidly disappearing, I'd get pissed off too. If they cancel your appointment if you fail to show up within {5,15,20} minutes of the official time it's not unreasonable to want to be seen within an hour of your appointment imo!
I totally agree.
