"As aventuras da turma do Gordo" which roughly translates do the adventures of the fatboy and his crew. The books are from Brazilian author João Carlos Marinho and gave me hours of pleasure during Summer in my childhood

I had been going to say Where the Wild Things Are. Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel was another favorite. But frankly, any book was pretty much the best.
