The diaries of a band of misfits sharing a single body.
So I've been lurking a few religious Imzy communities, just to get my feet wet.
Islam Imzy: articles about good deeds and charity
Judaism Imzy: statements from Orthodox rabbis condemning the actions of Donald Trump
Christianity Imzy: link to an article about how Halloween is teh evils and corrupting The Chrildren by... being Halloween, or something
One of these things is not like the others...
Which isn't to say I look down my nose at any and all Christians, but at the same time, Christianity is a hard sell for me due to past issues, made harder still when I encounter the "we're the good guys, everyone else is going to hell" rhetoric that seems all too common in those spaces.
Which is a shame. I want to like Christian spaces, and feel safe in them, and some very good friends of ours are devout Christians who we've learned a lot from and whose company we've enjoyed very much, but I just... don't. Not as a male pansexual member of a plural system that's trans in body who's currently dating another dude. Whose favourite holiday just so happens to be Halloween! I've grown up being told again and again that my very existence is evil and bad in the name of God, so now I can't even enjoy fucking Halloween apparently. I just wanna learn about religion without all the you-are-inherently-evil baggage being dredged up, dammit!
On a positive note, the communities for Judaism and Islam seem very sweet. I'm not sure where I stand religiously, myself, but I hope they can stay safe with the way the current climate... is.
