Distributed Systems - Distributed systems: for fun and profit!!

Here is another fun way to learn Distributed systems! This book has explained concepts in a very nice way: http://book.mixu.net/distsys/ There are HTML/PDF/Kindle versions available.

As a rule, I refuse to read anything with "for fun and profit" or "considered harmful" in the title.

Thanks for stopping by! I don't completely understand your comment. What you see in the title of this post is the actual name of this book:

"Distributed systems: for fun and profit" by Mikito Takada.

And though, the title of book says "profit", I don't think author is making any profit out of it. Whole book is present on github.

If there is any one who is making any profit is the reader of this awesome book on basics of Distributed systems.

I have no problem with profit--I love making profit! I just hate trite phrases, and the two that keep showing up over and over the most (possibly just confirmation bias for them showing up the most, but they are very common) in programming circles is "for fun and for profit" and "considered harmful". It's a lazy and unoriginal way to title something. And that therefore makes me lazy in regards to reading it.

Okay. I get it now :) Seems like the phrase "fun and profit" is indeed quite old, as per google search results.

PS: Book's content is still refreshing though, at least I feel so :)

I should probably get off my high horse and check it out :)
