Everyday (not doomsday) prepping

If you live in an area that experiences natural disasters (fires, floods, earthquakes, etc) or severe weather events (storms, drought, lots of snow) and you have tips on how you stay prepped for those, or on how to get through them without dramas, this could be a good place to share them in the comments :)

My hometown gets a lot of storms which sometimes cause minor flooding, cutting off roads etc. A few times I've been stranded away from home. So now I carry basic necessities (change of underwear, towel, jumper, tampons, etc) in a waterproof duffel bag in my car, and my medication in my handbag (which is also mostly waterproof).

Top tip for if there's a flood, DO NOT drive through the flood water, or try to walk through it, even if it looks pretty shallow. All kinds of debris can get caught up in it, like used needles, snakes, sewerage, and toxic runoff especially in urban areas. It'll also get into the engine of your car and munt it.

Anyway, what are your top tips?
