This Former Congressional Staffer Just Explained How to Make Your Congressman Actually Listen
A series of viral tweets by former Congressional staff member Emily Ellsworth offered advice on how to get your representative to take notice and hear you out. Ellsworth, a Salt Lake City-based writer and editor, worked for Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, and Rep.
We're going to have to do a lot of this!
Quick summary, best way to get heard by your representatives, in order of efficacy: phone call, letter, email. Social media is practically useless.
Even if your representative is of the minority party, they can use the encouragement, because the opposition is also calling them.
If your representative was not ousted this election, you can get started by voicing your opposition to Trump's rhetoric and stated agenda.

I think it's worth noting though that if you're not willing/able to call, sending emails really is still a good idea.
I agree, if it can be a collective effort. They must respond and it takes resources, so make it a deluge that cannot be ignored.
This is why it's important to get politically involved locally with others. We have an action alert tag in this community we haven't used yet. This community is open to the world (though US-centered) so it needs to have a geographically broad scope.
Ah, action alert tag is a good idea.
Another thing is state-level stuff, like my state senator usually would read their emails themselves, and the state reps certainly did. It was common for the state senator to respond. Even if they don't have power on a federal level, it can be really useful.
State level, certainly! They have fewer constituents and even fewer that vote, so your one email represents a lot more impact!
And considering federal level representatives can come from this pool, it's definitely useful. Politicians don't come from nowhere.
Yeah totally! :)
