I haven't thought of 2 B A Master probably since 1999, but man, that was big when it came out.
I can't count the number of times I've heard of this kind of thing happening. It's made me cautious of the contracts I sign when it comes to my own creative work, but it's frustrating because, in a lot of fields, you don't really have options when it comes to your contract. The powerful recording studio/publishing house/talent agency/whatever has their standard contract, and you're expected to sign it and be grateful. I really admire Paige's attitude. He seems to understand the nature of the beast and take joy from his work anyway.
I LOVED 2BA Master and can still sing most of the songs by heart, and I just turned 30. It's kind of amazing how even the silly things can really last culturally.
Paige seems like a cool guy who isn't even as bitter as he should be. I'm glad he's still so positive about the theme song. It's really a good warning about being careful about the types of contracts you sign.
