A catch-all community for RPers of all stripes and the discussion thereof.
Roleplay on Imzy! What do you think?
I'm interested in exploring the idea of using Imzy as a platform to RP on. The community aspect of things will make it far easier to use than tumblr as far as being able to run a game goes. I actually haven't created a personal blog community yet, just in case I decide to make a game soon.
The main drawback that I can see right now is that discussions aren't threaded the same way they are on Dreamwidth/Livejournal. I've seen some discussion on the main Imzy community that following comment threads is difficult. I haven't personally tried to read a long comment chain, though, so I'm not sure what the default behavior is for comment chains.

I would LOVE rp on imzy. I don't think the threading would be too much of a problem, as you can always set to see newest first (then it's just a matter of remembering that the shiny new stuff is on the top, if I understand right). People could post starters on anon (giving folks the benefit of the doubt, until or unless any trouble starts), eg if you have a professional /more real world-y account and want to keep your rp separate (like, nothing to hide but in many cases it may not be something you want associated with the name on your Facebook or for professionals Linked In). No smut as it would probably fall foul of imzy's rules, which means its automatically a safe space for younger people to engage without any worries either for themselves or for older people wishing to avoid accidentally crossing a legal line with someone who claimed to be of legal age (or you just forgot to ask. I'm obsessive about this, but anyone could slip up just once). And you could set up a post saying "I'd like to play x, y and Z, any takers?" and thread with any and all takers off that one post. It could be awesome!
I don't find them too difficult to follow as long as the discussion doesn't branch. It posts the first comment
then nests the second
and then nesting tends to break down, but you still see the posts in chronological order.
So unless you're doing a thread with branching/threadjacking, just running it LJ/DW style shouldn't be a problem. A potentially larger pain is finding things in the archive sense (Imzy doesn't seem to have any options for skipping back through discussions other than [/scrollscrollscrollscroll]) and the fact that you're limited to creating (2 + 1 per month of membership) communities (at least as of right now).
The function that lets you have multiple posting names under one account would be useful though, a forum I'm on has a similar subaccount feature that people use for RP.
The main issue seems to be that you can only view comment chains in most popular order, or newest first, which is the opposite of what people would want in an RP context--if there's more than one comment chain to a post you definitely want to see everything in chronological order.
Newest first would be functional enough for me, personally. But then I did tumblr RP at one point - it's not hard to adjust to "what I need to reply to is on top," really.
