This community is about roleplaying (if you don't know what that is its basically you making a story)
Where do people RP these days?
Dating myself, but I've done forum RP, LJ and DWRP....dabbled a bit in Tumblr RP but that eluded me. So I thought I'd ask: where do we RP?

I'm dating myself here, too, but I've always roleplayed on telnet. I use a proper telnet client with scene logging and such, and I log into a MUSH/MUX.
I personally only play on World of Darkness games (Vampire: the Masquerade, Werewolf: the Apocalypse, etc). But I know there's a wide world of MUSH/MUX out there. There's a Firefly game, maybe more than one... D&D games, online tabletop-style games, Harry Potter games, and of course my favorite, WoD games, and so on.
I highly recommend MUSH/MUX RP! If anyone needs help getting started, message me or reply here, I guess, since it looks like there's no direct messaging? I'd be happy to get more people into the hobby!
I used to play on a forum called "Post-Apocalypse", although before that I was on Roleplay Gateway, back when that wasn't so much of a mess. Nowadays I mostly do tabletop stuff over skype, which is fun but I do kinda miss the forum stuff. I'm working on my own at the moment but I don't know if I'd ever be able to recapture the magic like back when forum rp was in its heyday.
I feel that the best place to RP (literately, usually) is Virtual Space Amino, or one of the correlating role play Amino communities. The platform is beautifully organized, and the community is just wonderful. That's where I spend most of my time for role play.
Dreamwidth, also. It is muuuuuuuuch better for RP than Tumblr. I don't know if Imzy RP has taken off or will take off, because I haven't used it enough to have a strong impression of its linearity. It's really important for an RP site to keep posts in linear, chronological order; not as important for a social site.
Ironically, texelations didn't send me here AT ALL but she is someone I RP with pretty extensively!
I'm always fond of dedicated roleplay forums, but I don't join them anymore because I often lose steam after about six months, or life in general attacks me.
Tumblr RP was incredibly difficult IMO, but maybe I'm just too used to rp forums to change my old and crusty ways...
I used to roleplay on gaiaonline. That was horror. I haven't really gotten into much else after that, but it looks like tumblr is pretty popular? I know that there are some roleplaying forums, not sure if they're still big now.
I used to rp on ff.net, and that was pretty painful too. My old roleplays are still there when I feel like torturing myself...
Wait what. You can rp on ff.net? I never knew that hahaha
Yeah, there's a forum section on there, and although I don't think it was designed for rps, lots of people rped there when I was about 12.
Wow, you learn something new every day. Well, I guess at least you guys made do with what you could.
I got my start on forums and Gaia Online, but over the past few years have made the move to Tumblr. It may seem complicated if you don’t know the general how-to of things, but depending on how you go about it (groups vs 1x1 vs mumu vs indie), complication varies. If anyone has any questions about that, I don’t mind trying my hand at explaining. I’ve done all of the above.
I’ve also roleplayed on Twitter via Tumblr-based Twitter RPs (where the main roleplay is basically indexed on Tumblr but all roleplaying is done via Twitter), but lately I’ve gotten a little tired of the Tumblr RP community and would love to find somewhere else to write...
I’d honestly love if roleplay was a little more prevalent here, I can’t seem to find too much, though.
I RP on Dreamwidth mostly, though I got thirsty enough for new interactions that I have started RPing on tumblr as well. Dreamwidth is a MUCH better format, imo.
Didn't realize people rp on Dreamwidth, but it does seem like a great idea. A lot neater than tumblr would ever be haha! I wonder if this comm will ever be used for RP? lol
Yes, most of the RP community on Livejournal moved en masse to Dreamwidth not long after strikethrough (the straw that broke the camel's back was when they removed topic lines from comments). I actually posted a topic about RPing on Imzy here.
Would you be interested in checking out how Dreamwidth RP works? I'm always on the lookout for people who are interested in trying it out!
Ooh interesting. If nobody interrupts, it does seem like you'd be able to do just fine using Imzy.
Well, I'm not gonna say no to seeing how it works if you don't mind giving some links o: I probably won't be up for any roleplaying for now though, I'm participating in a ship week and I'm behind schedule, and then I've got uni coming on in a few weeks haha
I'm not seeing any way to PM a community member, so I'll just post my links here. You can see my beginner's guide here (I talk a bit about applying to a certain game in there--that's because I was in the middle of inviting tumblr RPers to Dreamwidth and setting up a new game).
Oh, I see, nice! Thank you. And yeah, there isn't any pm on Imzy except for the one to chat with the developers
