Thoughts, anyone? I am not surprised by these findings. One of my Hindsight 20/20 regrets is not leaving my postdoc sooner or getting a non-research fellowship or internship instead. If you're looking for those not-so-alternative careers, you can do yourself a huge favor by planning for that during grad school, so you know what your academic exit strategy is, rather than taking the postdoc of least resistance.
