Readers and writers of science fiction.
What's your all-time favorite Sci-Fi series/franchise? Why?
Movies, TV series, book series, pick anything. What's your all-time favorite? What universe do you love to get lost in the most?
Star Wars is definitely up there for me, and I'm also a Star Trek fan, but I think the ColdFire Trilogy by C.S. Friedman has to be my all-time favorite. Such great characters. If you haven't read trilogy, definitely check them out, you won't regret it.

Battlestar Galactica!
I love that one, too! The ending of the new series was a little weird, though.
Agreed. I love BSG with the exception of the last few minutes, ha. I missed the why. Um I could pretend that I love it because it explores a lot of current day issues like the rise of technology for every day use, political issues of the day, the role of the military, etc. But I just like it for being a good show. And an awesome soundtrack.
I concur with that :)
Loved the original. I prefer my evil death robots to look like robots. :D
Haha, much easier to identify who the enemy is that way. I thought that was what made the new series so interesting. It was hard to know who was on which side sometimes :P
For books, here are my top Sci-Fi series:
Nice, I haven't heard of any of these, I'll have to check them out.
Seconding the Vorkosigan Saga - brilliant writing and amazing 'verse :)
David Brin's two Uplift trilogies are my favorites by far. Second place would be Hyperion.
Oops, misspelling on the last one - should be Retrieval Artist
It used to be Star Wars for me, but Firefly took the spotlight. Never been much for Star Trek, but Special Lady Friend is a big fan. She has been trying to convert me but so far I've only enjoyed Voyager.
I couldn't get into Firefly! I liked the feature film, though.
I'd say TNG and Voyager are my favorites from Star Trek.
I have to admit, the first time someone showed me Firefly I turned it off as soon as I saw Whedon's name. Months later I stumbled on it again and had forgotten his name, watched them, and was hooked for life.
For some reason I don't like a single other thing Whedon has ever done, but Firefly is among my favourite TV ever.
I think TNG was what turned me off it as a kid. I'm not big on political stuff, and I think that almost all of Trek is very political. I do like a lot of the background and the alien races, but I can't seem to bring myself to find political intrigue very intriguing.
I've come to the conclusion that I prefer space adventure to traditional "science fiction." :)
I like Firefly okay, but I don't get the huge reception it gets among the fan base. shrug
I watched the entire series, but I just wasn't that in to it. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
That's a pretty good effort for something you weren't enjoying. haha
Different strokes.
I wanted to know what all the hype was about. lol
The Hero of Canton will go down in history as my single favourite episode of TV ever.
If someone ever asked me to explain my love for Firefly, I would show them that episode and say that; that is why.
I should go rewatch that episode (maybe the whole series, it has been several years after all).
I try and rewatch it every few months. Must be about due now. There goes my weekend.
Hahaha, sorry!
No apology necessary. It's a worthy time sink. haha
Star Wars, BSG, Alien/Aliens, the X Files and Firefly, Aeon Flux (tv series), Black Mirror and the Matrix.
Currently watching Star Trek from the start - so ahead of its time.
Oh yeah, Alien & Aliens are great. There's a new comic book from Dark Horse called Aliens: Defiance which I'm going to try and find.

Plus one based on Prometheus timeline, but the description says it's chapter two so I'm going to have to find the first one as well:

Ooooh!!!
Aeon Flux was great, but the movie was meh. Black Mirror was pretty awesome, too.
The movie was such a yawn, in particular given the incredible source material!
Star Trek. TNG, DS9, and Voyager. Janeway fanned the feminist flames of my young heart, Picard is responsible for the 2 years I spent as a philosophy major, and Sisko made me more tolerant of religious people. While I love almost all sci-fi, Star Trek will always be special because of how much it's contributed to who I am as a human being.
ll&p y'all.
That's really cool how much it influenced you!
Babylon 5!
Star Wars is more space fantasy than sci-fi, so I'll say Foundation. Love the classics.
Tomato, tomato 😋
