Couple find proof that Shakespeare was in Rye
Couple find proof that Shakespeare was in Rye
The painstaking work of a St Leonards couple has proved beyond doubt that Shakespeare visited Rye with his company of players. Teacher Paul Franczak and his wife Rosie Brocklehurst provided evidence to back up their claim, which has now been recognised as legitimate by the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington DC, the world authority on Shakespeare.

Rye is a beautiful town not far from where I grew up. I think it's pretty awesome how even now in the 2000s we're continuing to discover things about Shakespeare's life!

Wait, the inn is still there? A 500-year old inn counts as impressive in my book, let alone knowing enough about its history to know that a specific theater troupe played there (even if it was led by Shakespeare).
Oh yes! We have lots of really old buildings! The pub down the road from my dad's house was built in the 15th century, the ceilings were low as hell but it was a really nice place. Actually we're planning to visit Rye when we go back there in April/May, so I'll try to find this pub and get a photo for you :D
Woah, awesome! I knew you had old buildings ofc, but the idea that it's still there and still a pub and has been for that long boggles my mind! I would've expected it to have changed its purpose like, 20 times in 500 years.
Other buildings definitely have done, but pubs, mate. Pubs are important. Backbone of our society, mate. :P
