Why are we talking about Mars colonies?

When we should already be making moon colonies?

    This would probably be a good explain like I'm 5..haha. I think Mars has dirt and a better atmosphere but I'm not positive. Matt Damon grew stuff in the dirt. :D

      Well they have finished a simulation with Astronauts in a dirt like area in Hawaii similar to Mars to see if they can replicate it. Sounds...tryable =p

    A couple of quick thoughts:

    Martian gravity is much closer to Earth's, so easier for humans to live in long-term and return from if they wanted to.

    Mars has a bit of an atmosphere. The moon doesn't

    If an asteroid wipes out earth it would have a devastating effect on the moon, too. People on Mars would be unaffected.

      Lol nice points. The sucky thing is, they say the 1st 4 groups to inhabit mars are more than likely going to die before their 1st year there.
