All about the actor Sir Patrick Stewart!
Ask Me Anything!
Since a lot of folks are doing Ask Me Anything sessions over this weekend here on Imzy I thought it would be nice to have one for this community as well - I want for people to feel welcome here and to not be overwhelmed by me posting so much Sir Patrick stuff all the time, so, this is something different now.
As the headline says - you can ask me anything, either directly about Sir Patrick or about me as a Sir Patrick fan/community leader, or both, or something else entirely (maybe the community itself? Questions? Feedback?)!
I'll leave this post pinned throughout the entire weekend, so, if you have a question and don't have time to post it now, you can easily find this post and ask tomorrow or later today.
Cheers! :)

How many times have you met Patrick Stewart?
I've seen him on stage five times, met him briefly twice and not-so-briefly once (fairly recently). :)
What would you say is Patrick Stewart's most unexpected role?
For him I'd say he's still very surprised that he gets to play a character like Walter Blunt. He'd been wanting to do comedy roles for YEARS but no one ever really took him seriously (haha) in that regard. People always mistakenly assumed he was this regal, stern leader figure that Jean-Luc and Professor X represent while in real life he's a total goofball. Typecasting gone too extreme, I guess. (This is also why he tried to break free of the Star Trek chains in the 90s by being in as many different movies as possible, quite a few of them also just BAD, just to prove that he WASN'T Jean-Luc.) He's very happy with his comedy career now, though, it took Extras and American Dad to pave the way for him as Walter Blunt, and he jumped at the opportunity to play him, and I think he's doing a terrific job there. :)
For me the most unexpected role... honestly I can't really say. I have this initial belief that he can play ANYTHING, ANYONE, at ANY given time. I am NEVER really surprised when there's a new announcement about a new movie with him and a new character he plays. I know how versatile he is as an actor, I have seen him in SO many roles, so many movies, television series... he can do ANYTHING. I have never even ONCE thought "whoa, can he really make this work?" or "whoa, this is an extreme casting idea". I do confess that I was rather fascinated when I saw him as Dad Savage for the first time though - Savage is probably the most disturbing character he's ever played in a movie, even more disturbing than Darcy Banker in "Green Room".
For most people who are "only" familiar with some of his roles, Walter Blunt is probably one of the most unexpected roles though - because they aren't used to him playing a guy like that. (Which is VERY ironic since Walter Blunt is a LOT more like today's Sir Patrick Stewart than Jean-Luc Picard or Charles Xavier could EVER even TRY to be.) And also Darcy Banker, yes. People continue to be confused by Sir Patrick's extreme character choices these days, haha. Mostly this is because they often aren't familiar with a lot of his work, though - anyone who has seen "Dad Savage" would not be surprised by Darcy Banker.
I adore him as Walter Blunt! That would probably be my answer too. ❤
Walter has really made it into my top ten favorite Sir Patrick characters, yes! He's so cute and adorable and I just want to protect him. He's really a LOT like Sir Patrick, probably because a lot of his background is based on Sir Patrick's own background - right down to the Huddersfield Town shirt in his office, lol. I really wish they would renew Blunt Talk for a third season, but from what Jonathan Ames said about it, I doubt it's gonna happen. :(
I suppose this means I need to snap up the two existing seasons and write Walter Blunt fiction forever then... ❤
I'm planning on doing just that, too! In fact I JUST finished a mini Blunt Talk ficlet! lol (I want to hold it back until the second season is done, though, I want for it be set after it.) But yeah, fan fic will most likely be the way to go!
Oh oh! When you're ready please share!
I will! It's shameless self insert BUT also lots of Walter/Harry, so I guess have a good balance there. (Walter/Harry is just SUCH an OTP of mine!)
If Sir Patrick Stewart was an animal which animal would he be and why?
If someone gave him that question to answer, he'd probably have a response no one would think of, haha!
I always say he's like a dragon. Elegant and classy and yet also NOT easy to handle, and with a very fiery temperament sometimes. But once you've withstood his initial character traits he can become a very trusted and faithful friend. Who is also a lot into laughing, being cheeky and making jokes. ;)
Good answer. Also if he ever answers this question anywhere I know you'll find it! Haha
I believe he DID answer it somewhere and I remember his answer being very WTF (haha) but I don't remember specifically what it was, lol!
LOL!! Naturally.
Yeah it's SO much like him... with questions like that one you never know if he's just messing with the interviewer or if he's being serious.
Well... If I was Patrick Stewart I'd be perpetually messing with people. Haha.
Hahaha yeah he enjoys this kind of thing a lot. He doesn't mess (in a bad way) with people who really care for him, but some random reporter who asks questions that he finds strange... uh oh. Haha. Upsetting him is the WORST thing to do though - he has been known to end an interview, especially if the interviewer starts to mock Star Trek.
