Social Justice Debates US Presidential Poll
Even if you're not American, please answer this poll! I'd like to get an idea of where this community stands re: the presidential election.

The partisan divide is the real trouble with politics today - everyone is angry that nothing gets done - and Clinton, sadly, is the only candidate that has a remote shot at reaching over the aisle.
Trump would outright refuse to cooperate with any opposition, even in his own party.
This is a first past the post system, so third parties are irrelevant to the presidency (not that their political ignorance didn't already do that job).
A lot of it because of the Internet and being able to pick and choose where to get news from. Most people get very biased and explicitly partisan news nowadays, and it's why polarization has gotten worse among the people on both sides. In Washington, however, polarization is almost exclusively rightward - only the Republicans have gotten more extreme.
I don't think Hillary will get any cooperation from the Republicans. They'll treat her the same as they did Obama, if not worse - this isn't the 1990s anymore when she and Bill could coax some of them into making compromises. The partisan media is too quick to pounce on any perceived "treason".
The MSM isn't much better, and I would actually blame them for much of it. The news is presented as if there are ONLY two sides to any argument, but these issues are multi-faceted and extremely complicated. Presenting only two sides is intellectually lazy because it panders to the lowest common denominator, which dumbs public discourse and prevents the issues from being discussed honestly.
.. and yeah, I doubt she'll get much cooperation from Republicans - they're already talking about blocking SCOTUS nominations for four years - unless Trump becomes a force in the party after the election.
Clinton's the pragmatic choice, the third-party candidates are my hopeful daydreams, and Trump is my repressed desire to see the world burn :P
#giantmeteor2016!!!
Either way, no matter who wins I'm going to be very, very happy...
Yes, either way will be cause for getting VERY DRUNK. lol
It's not about getting the perfect candidate into the White House. It's about keeping Trump the HELL out of it, and Clinton is the one who has the best shot at it.
A couple of years ago, I could not have imagined that Hillary Clinton would have to play the role of the hero(ine) who saves the world. It just seemed so outlandish that 1. she would be running against a figure who is checking off all the fascist checkboxes and 2. because of that, she would be the heroine of any kind of narrative when she's been decried as a villain by both the far left and the far right. But if she wins on Tuesday (which is by no means certain) she will have done the world a greater service than any politician in recent times.
